Motorola is reimagining its wallet-friendly stylus smartphone with the 2025 Moto G Stylus, presented in two vibrant shades: blue, and for variety, blue. Each model features a “leather-textured” back panel and an impressive array of specs for its $399 price point though it may come with the drawback of unwanted preloaded software.

A Step Up in Performance and Durability
The 2025 Moto G Stylus (with Motorola finally dropping the 5G moniker) introduces a notable upgrade with the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 processor, surpassing the Gen 1 found in last year’s model. Motorola claims this delivers a “6.4x increase in responsiveness” over its predecessor. Another standout improvement is the full IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, a significant advancement from the previous water-repellent design. At this price, that’s a rare treat. Plus, Motorola deserves applause for preserving the cherished headphone jack for wired audio fans.

Vibrant Display and Capable Cameras
The generous 6.7-inch OLED display boasts a fluid 120Hz refresh rate and a crisp 2712 x 1220 resolution. Photography is handled by a 50-megapixel Sony Lytia main sensor, complemented by a 13-megapixel ultrawide lens that also serves as a macro camera. Powering the device is a substantial 5,000mAh battery, supporting swift 68W wired charging or convenient 15W wireless charging. Out of the box, it runs Android 15 and comes with 8GB of RAM and storage options of 128GB or 256GB.
Robust water resistance, wireless charging, and eye-catching color options? These feel like the answers to my midrange phone wishlist. Yet, I remain cautious, having been let down by Motorola’s midrange offerings before not scorched, but disappointed by enticing designs and specs marred by sluggish software updates and pesky bloatware. Motorola hasn’t responded to my queries about bloatware on the 2025 G Stylus; if they do, I’ll update this piece. For now, I’m tempering my excitement.
The Motorola G Stylus 2025 will hit shelves unlocked on April 17th for $399, with availability at all three major US carriers expected “in the months to follow.
